FAQ: accounting in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Answers to common questions about our services, pricing, sending documents and changing your accounting firm.
All questions and answers
How much do accounting services cost?
We set prices individually, based on your activity, VAT status, number of employees, volume of documents and the scope of services you need.
Send us the basics about your business. Based on your needs, we will prepare an offer that clearly lists the services and the price.
Do we have to wait until the end of the year to change accountants?
No. You can change your accounting firm at any time during the year, and the process is simple.
Your current accountant books all transactions up to the agreed handover date, and the new firm continues from that date after entering the opening balances.
If you wish, we can contact your current accountant ourselves to speed up the handover.
Do you work with clients outside Sarajevo?
Yes. We work with clients across the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including foreign companies and representative offices operating there. You can send documents electronically, and we agree on the way of communicating with you.
Do we have to send original documents, or can we send them electronically?
You can send us your business documents electronically. This makes exchanging documents easier and speeds up processing.
If you send documents electronically, you keep the originals for the period prescribed by law.
Do we file tax returns ourselves, or is that part of your service?
It is part of the service. We file tax returns on your behalf and keep track of deadlines, which depend on your activity and form of registration.
We also check that the payments linked to each return have reached the right institutions and funds.
Do you register companies, sole proprietorships, associations and foundations?
Yes. We register sole proprietorships (obrt) directly, while limited liability companies (d.o.o.), associations and foundations are registered in cooperation with a law firm.
We advise you on the form of registration and on the accounting and tax obligations that come with starting a business.
Can you recommend software for inventory accounting and invoicing?
Yes. We can recommend software for inventory and invoicing that suits your activity and business needs.
A shared system lets you track stock and issue invoices, and gives us access to the data so we can check it and record it in the books.
Do all businesses have to file annual financial statements?
All legal entities must prepare and file the annual financial statements prescribed by law, signed and stamped by a certified accountant with a valid licence.
Sole proprietors, except those taxed at a flat rate, file the self-employment income statement (form SPR-1053). Proprietorships with two or more owners file, in addition to SPR-1053, the annual return on jointly earned income (form GPZ-1052). Individuals who own a business file the annual personal income tax return (form GPD-1051).
